Dick Barber 11-4-08
I met Dick Barber at The Drawing Studio when he signed up for my jewelry class. Dick had taken many metalsmithing classes before mine so he was not new to the craft. The Drawing Studio in Tucson is a wonderful art school. It is not degree oriented but is more of a studio atmosphere with an instructor. TDS can be used as simply a studio or you can pursue as much instruction as you wish just by signing up for a class.
After Dick took two classes and we got to know each other a bit more, he told me that he liked to keep busy and productive. Dick is a retired science teacher and he took on various projects as they came up. I offered him knowledge for labor and he accepted. As I have written in other posts Dick has made many parts such as bezels and tubes for the pieces I make. It’s nice to have someone in my studio on a part time basis. I look forward to the two days Dick comes in and it helps that he likes Kilo.
